What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic care is focused solely on restoring and maintaining function and balance to the nervous system. This allows the body to function at its optimal level with ease.

Your nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord, and it controls and regulates all other systems in the body. From blood flow to brain function and bone growth, the nervous system plays a crucial role in keeping things working and healthy. If the nervous system’s communication channels become fuzzy, distorted or damaged then we can expect all kind of communication errors. This ineffective communication of the nervous system may play out as colic or irritability, inability to latch or nurse, poor sleep, developmental delays, digestive troubles, asthma, behavioral problems, inability to concentrate, etc. Regardless of what the end result may be, it all leads back to the nervous system.

Poor nervous system communication, or what chiropractors refer to as subluxations, occur from the result of physical, chemical, and emotional stress. Birth and delivery are the first and number one cause of stress to the nervous system. Other stressors that can affect the nervous system include awkward positioning in utero, maternal stress, toxin exposure, prolonged bad posture, poor food choices, falls or injuries, feeling anxious about taking a test at school, or even rushing to get to work on time.

Chiropractors are trained to detect and correct these communication errors in the body, thus allowing the nervous system to heal and function at its very best. When we appreciate how vital a well-functioning nervous system is to every aspect of health, it just makes sense that everyone should be under chiropractic care.
